Uncle Sol’s Candy Shop

He stands there working on a sugar

Panorama egg,

putting the two halves together

with colored sugar,

putting on the plastic window with

that same exquisite colored sugar,

then squeezing sugar flowers to the top of the egg,

as his nephew packed the boxes,

and his wife helped,

as he is engrossed in his work on the eggs,

making the bottoms and tops of his,

most famous work of art,

as he stands there thinking,

wouldn’t it be nice to be able to make candy,

and Panorama eggs,

for his whole life.
